Captain Tim Benson Gets an Iphone

                                http://www.personal.psu.edu/scd5029/blogs/SCDIST110H/apple-iphone-kybd-large.jpg http://muhockey.com/Team/players/mu_hockey_team_015.jpg

In a move that surprised teammates and friends the Golden Eagle’s former Captain and recent Marquette graduate Tim Benson has joined the mainstream culture and is currently using the new Apple Iphone to keep in touch. Benson previously using an inferior phone with only call and texting abilities is still trying to figure out the new technology of the Iphone. The phone, a gift according to Benson, not only enables Benson to stay on the edge of modern technology but also provides him the popularity and mainstream acceptance he craves. Enjoy the phone Benson!

Before Eating Brisket Team Puts “Brisket in the Basket” in Peoria

*Note: Brisket in picture is not representative of brisket served at the River Beach Grill.

The brisket at the River Beach Grill is better.

The Past two weekends the team has traveled for its games in Peoria Illinois. After a crushing victory the Golden Eagles beat Western Illinois their first weekend back from winter break. Excited and eager for Saturday’s game the team spends the night in Peoria. Senior Roger Erikson lives in Peoria and his family owns a local eatery (River Beach Grill). The team woke up early and was welcomed to the restaurant by the Erikson’s to enjoy a meal of brisket with homemade potato chips. Brisket is a beef sandwich usually served with BBQ sauce and is a specialty of the River Beach Grill. This is the second time the team has been invited for Brisket in Peoria by the generous Eriksons. Now a regular occurrence for the team when it travels to Peoria, the car ride to Peoria is filled with thoughts of victories and brisket. After the team had their fill the team needed to wait at the restaurant until the game, but received a phone call saying the game was cancelled. Western Illinois had an unexpected scheduling conflict and did not have enough players to skate. Disheartened and with bellies full of brisket the team thanked the Eriksons and returned home.

Coach Tom Robertson Buys New Car

This week Coach Tom Robertson has purchased a new car. After the games in Peoria, Illinois vs. Western Illinois on the return trip Coach Tom had car troubles and broke down near Chicago, Illinois. After a price quote from the garage the diagnosis was bleak. There were multiple problems with the car and in the long run it was better for him to buy a new car. Tom went with the American-made Chevy Impala. Being modest he selected the V6 instead of the V8 but it still has the power Tom needs for his traveling.

Unknown to the Golden Eagle hockey website team recent Marquette Graduate and former Captain of the Golden Eagles Matt Goebel was on campus this past weekend. Matt Goebel showed up to eat dinner with the team on Saturday surprising many teammates and family members. Goebel mingled with many of his old team members and reminisced about past seasons. Goebel played a key role in re-starting the club hockey program at Marquette and paved the way for the team today. After leaving dinner it was unknown where Goebel went but he did stay with his sister Sarah Goebel who is currently a Marquette Student and Golden Eagle hockey fanatic. The team extends a special thanks to Goebel for his $25 donation for dinner and hopes to see him again this academic year.

Team Gets New Home Socks

After a mix up at the sock factory the Golden Eagle’s received their home socks this past week. When ordered initially the gold of the socks was bright yellow and did not match the gold of the team’s jersey. Although the socks were the right color the size of the socks was a tad large. Many of the players having smaller legs found the socks baggy. Among those to comment was Senior Brian Schneekloth who said, “Man, these socks are big.” Despite the size of the socks the team played well in both games this past weekend against Illinois State and will keep the socks.
